Privacy Policy

INTRODUCTION

Travellers World Pty Ltd (ABN 75 097 049 075 ) ("Travellers World") is subject to 10 National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) ("Act"). This Privacy Policy explains, in general terms, how Travellers World collects, stores, protects and discloses "personal information" (as defined in the Act), in summary, being any information or opinion about an individual whose identity is apparent or can reasonably be ascertained from the information or opinion. This Privacy Policy applies to any personal information which we collect from you or a person or organisation acting on your behalf, for example, your employer, or another person or organisation connected with your travel arrangements or related services.

WHY DOES TRAVELLERS WORLD COLLECT INFORMATION?

Travellers World collects your personal information to assist in the provision of Travellers World travel related products and services. If you do not provide us with certain personal details about yourself, such as your name, address, payment and flight details and other important information, Travellers World will not able to provide the travel products and services you require.

WHAT INFORMATION IS COLLECTED BY TRAVELLERS WORLD?

The type of personal information we collect depends on the circumstances. For example, when you or a person acting on your behalf request Travellers World to make your travel arrangements, we are likely to collect personal information such as your name, address, contact details, flight and other travel details, payment details (such as credit card number and expiry date), and frequent flyer and other loyalty program membership details. We may also collect what is regarded as "sensitive information" (as defined in the Act). This is most likely to be information or an opinion about your racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs or "health information" (as defined in the Act), relevant to your travel arrangements. Health information may include information and/or opinion about your health or any disabilities which could affect your travel arrangements and/or require special services. Under the Act, we must obtain your consent to the collection of sensitive information, which we will use and disclose to third parties whether in Australia or overseas as requested by you or a person on your behalf or as necessary in connection with your travel arrangements. By providing us with any sensitive information, you consent to its collection, use and disclosure in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy unless you inform us otherwise.

HOW TRAVELLERS WORLD COLLECTS INFORMATION

Travellers World collects your personal information in a variety of ways. For example, we may collect personal information from you or from a person acting on your behalf as employer or other authorised representative. There may also be times when we collect information about you from third parties, such as from our related companies or third party service providers in connection with your travel arrangements. Your personal information may be collected via our online booking service, by telephone, email or other communication with us.

USE OF COOKIES ON TRAVELLERS WORLD'S WEBSITE

We may also collect personal information about you when you visit our website. Travellers World may from time to time utilise internet technology known as "cookies". Cookies are stored as text files on your computer's hard drive so that our computer servers can access them when you return to our website. Typically, cookies contain the information that identifies you as a user of our website, for example, your log-in or username, passwords, preferences, etc. When you revisit our site, the information we store in the cookie allows us to establish you as a previous visitor to our website, and allows our website to be more user friendly. HOW TRAVELLERS WORLD PROTECTS THE PRIVACY OF YOUR INFORMATION

Travellers World implements appropriate physical, electronic and managerial security procedures to protect the privacy and integrity of your personal information, particularly, from loss, misuse, alteration and/or destruction.

HOW TRAVELLERS WORLD USES YOUR INFORMATION

Generally, we collect personal information which is necessary to process your travel arrangements and other transactions, and assist you with any special requirements that you may have. We may also use your personal information to send you direct marketing materials from time to time, or in the course of market research in order to continually improve the products and services Travellers World offers.

WHY YOUR INFORMATION IS DISCLOSED TO THIRD PARTIES

Travellers World discloses personal information to third parties to facilitate the delivery of our products and services to you. For example, we may disclose your personal information to airline operators, other carriers, travel and freight service providers, data processing companies (including payment clearing houses). We may also disclose your personal information to various law enforcement agencies and governments around the world for security, customs and immigration purposes, as and when required to do so. Your personal information may also be shared between related companies in the Travellers World group of companies where necessary to provide you with your requested products and services. We may also be required to disclose your personal information to third parties in accordance with the Act, including where: it is necessary to prevent a threat to life, health or safety (either an individual or the public's generally); it is authorised or required by or under law; it is necessary to enforce the law; or it is necessary to investigate a suspected unlawful activity.

TRANS-BORDER DATA FLOWS

When you or a person on your behalf engages Travellers World under contracts to provide you with products or services, it will often be necessary for Travellers World to disclose your personal information to third party organisations overseas in order to facilitate your travel arrangements. Some of these overseas countries may have comparable privacy laws to Australia, but others may not. However, it may be necessary for us to transfer your personal information or at least parts of it to organisations that are not bound by comparable privacy laws in these countries because it is necessary for us to do so to make your travel arrangements. By requiring certain travel arrangements and related services, you give consent to this disclosure, unless specified otherwise.

ACCESS TO AND CORRECTION OF INFORMATION HELD BY TRAVELLERS WORLD

Travellers World will, on request, provide you with access to personal information we hold about you, including for the purpose of correcting and updating that information, unless an exception under the Act applies. Please note, however, that Travellers World reserves the right to recover from you our reasonable costs incurred in supplying you with access to your personal information. Travellers World will endeavour to provide you with access to your personal information in a reasonable period of time. Where an exception applies to a request for access, Travellers World may be able to provide you with part of the information. Where a request is refused, Travellers World will in most instances be able to provide you with reasons why it has refused the request.
